Today was the first day back to the gym for a little while. I took some time off for a not very serious injury and then got sick for a bit. I was soooo excited to be back today and (like anyone who's had to take time off for a while) I just really really needed and was ready to do something! Holy crap everything was so heavy lol and it felt even heavier because I kept thinking that way! "Holy crap this is the heaviest weight ever, why do these baby weights feel so damn heavy....oh my god the next set is gonna suck. I have zero strength today." So yes, thinking this way, the next set did suck, and yes I ended up feeling like the weakest person ever! I forgot for a second that I am a little stronger than I'm letting myself be, even with the post break "baby weights" lol, and the sets could have probably sucked a little bit less if I stopped telling myself how crappy they were gonna be!
Negative thoughts and beating ourselves up mentally drains our energy. The best quote ever "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." helps so much. Somedays we might not be 100%, but we always have the option of doing the best we're capable of at that moment. It's amazing how much more efficient we can be when we focus, draining thoughts and doubts aside, on one thing at a time!

Holy I didn't realize how long it had been since I'd written! I've been off from training for a little while, almost 2 weeks. Came down with Tonselitis and it just seems to be sort of hanging around. While it clears up, relaxing and sleeping a lot in between work seems to be the best past time!

A big concern right now is not being able to eat full meals and a quick drop in weight, so having half of a meal and then the other half a little while later will probably help a lot.

It's easy to forget about eating or avoid it when not feeling well, but you need the nutrients to get better. Greens supplements in the morning are good. Meal replacement drinks can be really handy if you're not feeling like eating. Always try to get your nutrients from "real food" but if pain is an issue or there's no way your getting food down you can make your own meal replacement drinks that actually taste really good.

Here's one that tastes delicious blended together:

-1 scoop chocolate protein powder (iso-gold extra natural chocolate tastes really good and is free of artificial sweeteners)

-1-2 tbsp natural peanut or almond butter

-1 banana

-water to desired texture

If you decide to take anti-biotics, avoiding probiotics until your finished with the prescription can help since they might counteract each other but taking a good probiotic when you're finished is a great idea. Anti-biotics can disrupt your "good" bacteria and a probiotic (Acidophilus) can help bring everything back into balance.

I'm hoping to get back to training after the weekend and am looking forward to my workouts now more than ever. With this little interuption I've been thinking how funny it is that if we don't listen to little hints that a break may be necessary, soon enough and one way or another, our bodies will make us listen!
